Victim Mentality

Victim mentality is an acquired personality trait in which a person tends to recognize or consider themselves as a victim of the negative actions of others, and to behave as if this were the case in the face of contrary evidence of such circumstances.

As victims, we focus on everything negative in our lives and feel wronged by those who judge and criticize us. Transitioning from a victim mentality to a "taking back control" mentality requires understanding and examining the underlying emotional issues contributing to the victim mentality in the first place.
